The Goodwill Guides Story

August of 2013 Kevin Griffin introduced Kenny Simmons to Jim Long while filming a awareness project for the Fly Fishing For Vets who teach wounded Veterans about rod building and fly tying  as therapy for participants in the SHARE program at the Shepard Center in Atlanta.  February 2014 The Goodwill Guides was born by Kenny & Jim inspired by experiencing and witnessing first-hand the beneficial impact full-time fishing provided Jim with his recovery and transformation, Jim is now giving back and providing the same opportunity for other wounded Veterans battling with the emotional and physical scares of war. “The Goodwill Guides” is a accelerated fishing program with hands on experience taught by today’s experts and professional anglers. The organization provides men and women with all forms of a unique opportunity to share their new life stories, learn a challenging new skill, and form lasting friendships, while gaining renewed hope as they confront the variety of fishing challenges we have to offer.

Our unique “Road To Recovery Program”, helps wounded warriors learn about pro angling techniques as a way to help integrate, motivate and accelerate them into the fishing world of competitive angling and professional guiding.
